It was definitely the wheel bearing assembly.

The replacement was actually pretty easy (6 bolts and one nut), but I made three times more difficult because I put the brake heat shield on wrong twice and didn’t notice until I went to put the caliper back on.

Here’s to hopefully no more issues!

Yeah, that looks bad.

It seems like every time I do this job, I get the dust shield wrong.

That gap in the second pic is not supposed to be there, right?

First time I had the back side facing out, second time had the orientation wrong. Happy to be done.

Correct. It was all sorts of wobbly. Can’t post videos directly to Oppo and don’t know how to make a gif to show how loose it was

Nah. It's fine. That's just a variable offset system. Designed to "safely" replace spacers.

Yeah. Fortunately a pretty easy fix

I’m going to be doing this same thing to my ‘04 Miata soon. I hope that it’s the wheel bearings that the noise is coming from .

It’s was a super easy job for me because nothing was rusted together. Bought the car new in September of 2014. High mileage because I drive for work and used to commute. Depending on your income and how much you find the part for it could be why not territory of fix. I found beating assemblies for as cheap as around $70 online but that seemed dangerously cheap for a no name super important component. I went with Moog because I’ve heard of them. I know some people have said they’ve turned crap recently but at least they offer a 3 year warranty.
